The 7th Sign 2005-2006 Season: Swords, Sex, and The Bible
Seasons come and seasons go...so catch what you can!

The 7th Sign Theater Productions is pleased to announce our three-show season for 2005 and 2006. The shows we have selected have been carefully considered and are what we believe will compose the most satisfying dramatic menu: a slab of tragedy, a grand salad of comedy, and a dark desert of tragi-comedy.

ZASTROZZI: THE MASTER OF DISCIPLINE [+]
Written by George F. Walker

We kick off the '05-'06 season with George F. Walker's exciting, bold and hilarious Zastrozzi. This dark satire provides a combination of fast-paced action, witty comedic dialogue, provocative moral debate, strong and sexy characters and plenty of incredible swordfights. It is 1893 and Zastrozzi, the master criminal of all Europe (and also a self-proclaimed atheist), has been focused for nearly three years on the pursuit of revenge against the murderer of his mother: the whimsical, unconstant, and delusionally God-obsessed artiste Verezzi. Zastrozzi, with the help of his heartless protege Bernardo and his sometimes lover, the seductress Matilda, chases Verezzi to a small town in the Italian countryside. But while Verezzi may be an easy target, his tutor Victor, a former priest, presents a much more difficult challenge for Zastrozzi...

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ADAM [+]
Written by Adam Parrish

The 7th Sign is committed to performing at least one original work in every season. This season, we have selected Adam Parrish's The Gospel According to Adam. A hilarious satirical comedy, Parrish's new play follows a modern prophet who struggles with his calling as he retells the "true" events behind the Bible's popular stories.

PAINS OF YOUTH
Written by Ferdinand Bruckner

Our third show of the season is German playwright Ferdinand Bruckner's startling portrayal of post WWI German youth. A group of young girls attending medical school have been prematurely thrust into adulthood due to the war and also from exposure to Freud's popular new psychology. These calculating girls, along with their male counterparts, reach to dangerous extremes as they struggle to find joy and meaning in their lives by experimenting with sex, relationships, and even death.
